Torrex
(Ruben Torres Alonso, Cascante, 1992)
Torrex is a Spanish painter raised in the rural and semi-desert landscape of southern Navarra, a place to which he remains deeply connected.
His large-scale oil paintings use light as both structure and narrative element, exploring material and gesture as essential tools of the pictorial language. The land, the silence, and the presence of abandoned spaces run through his visual and conceptual imagery.
His painting engages in dialogue with the Spanish Baroque tradition, with references such as Velázquez, El Greco and Ribera, reinterpreted through a contemporary perspective that seeks a pictorial truth rooted in observation and craftsmanship.
After beginning his studies in Fine Arts, he chose to deepen his training in classical painting at Atelier Madrid, complemented by studies in Concept art, integrating traditional techniques with contemporary digital processes.
He currently produces original works from his hometown studio, while also creating concept art for entertainment projects (ArtStation). His paintings have been exhibited in galleries, cultural centers, and art fairs in cities such as Pamplona, San Sebastián, Málaga, and Cascante. His work is now also available to private collectors worldwide directly from the studio.
